The Warren Wave 18U team - fresh off of an incredible 2010-2011 season that saw the team go 66-18-4, win numerous tournaments, place all 7 seniors in college AND qualified for ASA/USA "A" Nationals, is pleased to announce the 2011-2012 team. "This is a very solid team" said coach Denis. "We are still trying to put the pieces of the puzzle into place but we think we have done it again - a solid group of players." This years team is made up of Juniors and Seniors and brings together some of the best talent from around the Lake County area and southern Wisconsin. The team will play a solid ASA "A" and exposure schedule. The team is as follows:
00 Anna Balch (Jr. Warren - SS, 2nd). Anna is a very talented player with many raw skills that will continue to develop. Good height, good speed and a solid bat. Anna started on varsity at Evanston High School as a sophmore and is new to Warren High School. This is her second year with the Wave
48 Kacie Cecchi (Sr. Bradford - SS, 2nd). Kacie, formerly with the Kenosha Cyclones, is a great addition to the Wave. A great swing and good defensive skills. Good solid footwork and hip rotation. Kacie started on varsity at Bradford as a freshman. This is her first year with the Wave.
7 Jade Green (Sr. Zion - OF). Jade played with the Wave 16U team last year and developed as an offensie weapon. She has great speed and is going to give the defense fits when she gets on base. She can slap, bunt, hit and score. Jade Played on varsity last year. This is her second eyar with the Wave.
2 Lisa Holland (Sr Warren - OF, 2nd, 3rd). This is Lisa's second year with the Wave 18U team. A strong arm and solid glove. Lisa is capable of playing any position on this team. Her fundamentals are solid and she is a true team player. Lisa was a big reason for the success of the Wave 18U team last year.
63 Kaytee Keefe (Jr. Antioch - 1st, 3rd, OF). Kaytee has good fundamental skills. Solid bat, good glove, great arm - she has all the tools. Kaytee played varsity as a freshman. This is her first year with the Wave.
18 Erin Kennelly (Jr. Mundelein - P, OF, 1st, 3rd). I have watched Erin play since she was 11U. A good good player with a great approach to the game and a solid attitude. Erin started on varsity as a freshman. Her hitting, defense and team work will help the Wave have a solid year. This is her first year with the Wave.
22 Kelli Layton (Sr. Warren - OF). Kelli played on the very first Wave 10U team and has been in our program ever since. Kelli has played on numerours teams that have won championships and I have had the pleasure of coaching her in the past. A good outfielder that has good defensive awareness. Again, a true team player. Kelli played on varsity as a junior. This is Kelli's 8th year with the Wave.
3 Leiana Moragne (Sr. Zion - OF, C). This is Leiana's second year with the Wave 18U team. Leiana has great speed and can cover alot of ground in the outfield. Leiana had a solid fall and winter last year before breaking her hand prior to the start of the summer season. An offensive weapon that can slap, hit, bunt and steal bases. A tough player. Leiana started on varsity as a sophmore.
24 Amber Mysliwiec (Sr. Antioch - C, 3rd). What can I say? All Illinois 1st team, all county and all conference last year. The college coaches are lining up to sign this kid. This is Amber's second year with the Wave 18U team. Amber started on varsity as a freshman. She hits for power, has great skills behind the plate and plays an awesome 3rd. The leader of this team on and off the field.
14 Ashley Parkkonen (Jr. Zion - P, anywhere). Ashley is a solid pitcher with a good command of many different pitches. She can literally play just about any position as she has a solid glove and good speed. On offensive the kid can hit. Ashley started on varsity as a sophmore. This is Ashley's second year with the Wave.
12 Katie Phillips (Jr. Antioch - P, OF). Katie has played with some of the top travel programs in the area and has decided to make the Wave her home. A solid pitcher with decent speed and a good bat. Katie played varsity as a Sophmore. Katie comes from a family of atheletes. This is her first year with the Wave.
30 Kaylene Ressler (Jr. Antioch - 3rd, 1st). I had the opportunity to watch Kaylene play during the high school season and just knew I had to see her in a Wave uniform. A good approach to the game and in many ways reminds me of Amber with her good positive approach. Kaylene has a good glove and a solid bat. Played on varsity as a freshman. This is Kaylene's first year with the Wave.
There you have it - another solid job of bringing good, team oriented talent together. I think the thing that I am most impressed with is the quality of the players as citizens. Respectful, coachable, eager to learn and develop. This team will be very competitive this year and the Juniors on this team will form a great nucleus to build on the following year.
GO WAVE!!!
