The Wave is a competitive travel girls fastpitch program located in Gurnee, IL. We are a part of Warren Township Girls Softball. For the 2024-2025 season, we will field teams at the 10U, 12U, 13U, 14U,  15U and 16U. This past year our teams played in tournaments locally and around the Midwest,  including PGF tournaments, open level metro and open level national championships.

Warren Wave 16U-TM placed 1st in the fall 2024 PGF More Than a Game tournament, and is ranked #1 in USSSA A-level power rankings in the state of Illinois as of January 25, 2025.

About Illinois Wave:

Fact #1 – Travel Softball

Illinois Wave is a competitive girls’ fastpitch travel softball program based in Gurnee, Illinois, and operates as part of Warren Township Girls Softball. For the 2024-2025 season, the program fields teams at the following levels: two 10U teams, as well as teams at 12U, 13U, 14U, 15U, and two 16U teams.

Fact #2 – The Clubhouse

Athletes with Illinois Wave engage in year-round practice sessions to maintain and enhance their skills. Throughout the winter months, practices are typically held twice per week—one session at our dedicated clubhouse in Waukegan and another within the high school’s indoor field house. The clubhouse, which also serves as an alternative venue during inclement weather, features flexible spaces that can be divided into hitting lanes or opened for fielding practice.

Fact #3 – The Wipeout Tournament

The upcoming season will mark the 22nd annual Illinois Wave Wipeout Tournament, hosted by WTGS at Warren Township Park. This event is a key highlight of the season, providing opportunities for teams across all age groups to support one another while enjoying games held throughout the park.

Fact #4 – Tryouts

Warren Wave conducts annual tryouts to select its travel teams. While the aim is to field at least two teams per age group, actual numbers depend on participation and positional needs. The tryout process assesses players in hitting, bunting, throwing, fielding, and base running, with evaluations based on accuracy, quickness, and mechanics. Pitchers and catchers undergo additional assessments. Participants are notified of selection decisions within a few days following the conclusion of tryouts for their respective age group. All tryouts are free of charge and offer an informative introduction to the program.
